Episode #113 is our 5th Annual Christmas Special – GREMLINS with guest Mandey Shiver!

Posted on

Happy holidays HYSTOphiles, and welcome to our 5th Annual Christmas Special! For this festive occasion Keith chose a movie that I’ve actually already seen, in fact I watch it every Christmas season! It’s 1984’s Joe Dante classic, Gremlins!

Gremlins? Fa la la la la fabulous!

Joining us for this holiday hot topic is Keith’s sister (and my dear friend) Mandey Shiver! Mandey and Keith have been watching this movie since they were both kids, so the memories run deep for these two…

I mean, who doesn’t love Gizmo?

The three of us also share with each other all the stuff that’s been entertaining us lately (I went on a MAJOR “Killer Santa” jaunt this month), and Mandey and Keith also bravely take my Christmas Movie Trivia Quiz. Who wins? The only way to find out is to tune in and listen, and we really hope you do, because we really do want to know…

Join the Episode #112 slay-ride! It’s Silent Night, Deadly Night!

“He knows when you’ve been naughty…”

It’s HYSTO? Episode #112, and we’re getting into the holiday spirit by covering the oh-so-controversial 1984 film “Silent Night, Deadly Night! This holiday slasher is famous for being the first Killer Santa Claus movie!

I mean, except for 1980’s “To All A Good Night”...

The PTA and other groups were enraged when this film came out, mostly because of the TV ads that showed a Killer Santa Claus with an ax. Parents were shocked that someone had actually made a movie with a Killer Santa Claus, I mean, no one had done that before…

I mean, except for 1980’s “Christmas Evil”…

We had a very festive time discussing this Christmas slasher classic…who wouldn’t? Well, I guess some of the angry parents who made sure this movie got run out the theaters wouldn’t have had fun, but you have to understand that NO ONE had EVER made a movie with a Killer Santa Claus before…

I mean, except for 1972’s “Tales Of The Crypt” featuring Joan Collins being attacked by a Killer Santa Claus…

Naturally, we also talk about what has been keeping us entertained lately (The Queen’s Gambit, anyone?), and Keith announces what movie we will be covering for our 5th Annual Christmas Special (AND he announces our special guest)!

We hope you join us for our movie party, because we really do want to know…

I can’t believe that I had never seen this movie! I mean it has Sly Stallone, Carl Weathers, Talia Shire, Dolph Lundgren…

…and did I mention there’s a robot?

Naturally we also talk about what’s been entertaining us lately (Paul seemed a bit embarrassed to share his latest watch!?!?!) and I announce our first Christmas themed movie for this year!

Posted on

Salutations, HYSTOphiles! Welcome to HYSTO? Episode #110, featuring the 2017 Japanese zombie comedy One Cut Of The Dead, from director Shinichiro Ueda!

NOT Shinichiro Ueda, but actor Takayuki Hamatsu playing the director…

Joining us for the cinematic journey is one of our favorites special guests, podcaster and filmmaker Knives Monroe!

NOT Knives Monroe, but but actor Takayuki Hamatsu playing the director…

I was so excited to have Knives join us for this one, because this movie is such a love letter to filmmaking. This movie is so unique! You should definitely see it without knowing too much about it…

I don’t want to reveal too much. Like how this character is able to keep standing up with an axe embedded in her head…

Along the way we have a great time talking about what’s been entertaining us lately (Borat, anyone?), and Keith reveals his pick for me to watch for episode #111, which is directed by a very famous person…

No, it’s not him…

We hope you all join us for this movie party, because we really do want to know…

#109 is our 5th Annual Very Special Halloween Special! Featuring special guest Erin Casteneda! Wait Until Dark & Terrifier!

Posted on

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hello HYSTOphiles, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  It’s episode #109, and it’s our 5th Annual Very Special Halloween Special, with special guest and 70’s Horror Aficionado Erin Casteneda and a very special double-feature!

Our first feature is not necessarily Halloween-themed, but it certainly is full of suspense…it’s 1967’s Wait Until Dark, starring the amazing Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey! Audrey? Hmm. I guess she can’t see me…

Erin suggested this one, and I couldn’t agree quickly enough! I was sure that this would be the first movie Keith had ever seen Audrey Hepburn in, and I was right! What did he think? You know how to find out!

Next we went to Keith’s choice, which was much more Halloween- themed. We all enjoyed talking about 2016’s Terrifier, one of the most brutal slashers to come out in years…so of course we all loved it!

OMG! I LOVE THAT MOVIE!

This one is definitely for Horror Hounds only, but it’s truly a movie a that brings Halloween to life…or death! We had a great time talking about it…

Everybody’s having a good time! Except Art the Clown…for now…

After that I treat Erin and Keith to a Pop Horror Movie Quiz…and I tell Keith about the cool movie we’ll be talking about next time with another special guest…and you’ll have to listen in to find out who it is!

We really hope you join us for this Halloween Movie Celebration, because we really do want to know…
