In Episode #51 our movie choices each have ONE REDEEMING QUALITY…

Hey HYSTOphiles! We wanted to have a theme for Episode #51 so the movies would go together. We decided to each pick a movie that we felt only had ONE REDEEMING QUALITY. As far as we’re concerned, there’s only one real reason to actually watch the films we’re choosing this time around. Leave it to us to still pick two movies that couldn’t be more different…

First up is Paul’s choice, 2001’s Pootie Tang, a movie starring, among others, Chris Rock, Lance Crouther, Wanda Sykes, Robert Vaughn, Bob Costas…

Wait. What? What the hell is Bob Costas doing in a movie called Pootie Tang? I’ll bet he isn’t the One Redeeming Quality…

In the film, titular character Pootie Tang, the nonsense-talking/musician/actor/folk hero of the ghetto, is in danger of being bought by evil Corporate America. They also want to steal his magic belt. Please don’t ask…

Sa-da-tay, Mr. Tang. Sa-da-tay…

Paul had one scene in mind from this film that he feels is its only redeeming quality. Do I guess it? Do I think this movie has ANY redeeming qualities? You know how to find out! Meanwhile we next discuss my choice, Legend (1985), the Ridley Scott film starring Mia Sara, Tom Cruise, and Tim Curry.

I’m pretty sure this is Tom Cruise, but it could be Mia Sara. I honestly don’t care…

Just like Paul’s choice, I believe Legend has that ONE REDEEMING QUALITY that makes it worth watching. Unlike Paul’s choice, pretty much everyone who has ever heard of this movie knows what that one quality is…

Here’s a tiny hint…

Of course we have the usual nonsense: what’s new, what’re we watching, etc. But on top of that we also discuss our plans for our next episode, which just happens to be our 2ND ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL!  We announce our special guests and we also name the movies our guests have chosen for us to watch!

Won’t you join us?
