#197 Assault On Precinct 13 – 1976 – John Carpenter

Hello HYSTOphiles! Keith and I are thrilled to be back with our good friend Erin Casteneda to discuss this 1976 gem from John Carpenter: Assault On Precinct 13!

No, that’s not us…

We had so much fun talking about this movie together, even when discussing some of the more, uh, difficult scenes…

If you know, you know…

Naturally we also chat about what’s been entertaining us lately, and Erin and I make our picks for what movie we think should win The Oscar this year (here’s a hint: we were both wrong).

We hope you join our movie party, because we really do want to know…

Episode #144 shows Shawna sharing and shining a light on SHEENA!

Sheena – 1984

Hello, HYSTOphiles! We “shure” do welcome you to our next episode, #144! This time around our friend Shawna West has recommended a movie that I LOVE…it’s 1984’s Sheena, directed by John Guillermin.

Apparently, Sheena’s make-up artist & hairdresser live in the jungle as well…

Dear friend of the podcast Shawna suggested we make Keith watch this 80’s gem, and I was more than ready! Who doesn’t want to revisit a movie about a female Tarzan?

Honey, that’s not the kind of boa I meant…

As usual we also talk about what’s been entertaining us lately, and Shawna tells us a story about a nickname she once held (Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!)

We sure hope you join us as we shriek and shout about Sheena with Shawna, because we really do want to know..

HYSTO? #142 – 1941’s Citizen Kane – With Knives Monroe!

CITIZEN KANE, Orson Welles, 1941

Greetings HYSTOphiles! Welcome to HYSTO? Episode #142, where I FINALLY get Keith to watch what is considered one of the greatest films of all time (if not THE greatest), Citizen Kane, written by, directed by, and starring a 25 year old Orson Welles.

Pretty amazing, Mr. Welles…

We were thrilled to finally talk about this movie, and even more excited that our good friend, fellow podcaster, and filmmaker Knives Monroe came along for the ride! Knives, Keith and I also talk about what’s been entertaining us lately (Don’t Look Up gets mentioned…again), and Keith lets me know what I will be watching for Episode #143 (hint: it’s a MAJOR change of pace from this film…).

We hope you join our movie party, because we really do want to know…

Citizen Kane – 1941

#141 takes place in the “25th Hour” and stars Edward Norton…again…

He’s back!

Welcome to Episode #141, HYSTOphiles, where we talk about a movie that stars Edward Norton…again!

Yeah, Ed’s been here before…

The movie is 25th Hour, a Spike Lee Joint. Keith seems to have a thing for Mr. Norton because, well, the guy just keeps showing up…

Like I said…

Of course, besides Eddie N., we also talk about what has been entertaining us lately, and I let Keith know what movie he will be watching for Episode #142.

I’m not kidding. Keith just loves this guy…

We hope you join our movie party, because we really do want to know…

25th Hour – 2002

Episode #107 isn’t heavy, but it’s full of HEAVYWEIGHTS!

It’s time for #107, HYSTOphiles, and this time we aren’t messing around: we brought some HEAVYWEIGHTS! It’s the 1995 film Heavyweights! The film stars Aaron Schwartz, Kenan Thompson, and Shaun Weiss, who all starred in at least one of the three Mighty Ducks movies…

Also starring Ben Stiller as the heavy, but not a Heavyweight…

This was Keith’s choice, and it’s one from his childhood. Did it hold up for him? And, for that matter, what did I think of it? You’ll have to listen in to find out.

Heh. Heh. Heh. Yeah…

Of course we also talk about what’s been entertaining us lately, and I announce our movie for the next episode AND I also announce our special guest for next time (hint: she’s a Horror Movie Warrior)!

We hope you join us for our movie party, because we really do want to know…

Heavyweights – 1995

Episode #13 is The Whole Van Damme Enchilada!

Hello friends!  I’m happy to report that I survived watching three, that’s right, THREE Jean-Claude Van Damme movies for this epic Van Damme episode, and, yes, this whole thing was Paul’s idea (like you had to ask).

That moment when you realize you have to watch THREE Van Damme movies…

We had many, many films to choose from, but the ones we ended up with were, in chronological order, Bloodsport, Lionheart, and Timecop. Please join me, Paul, and our special guest and good friend Keith Karseno as we discuss these cinematic masterpieces and I try to remember which movie is which…

“Lioncop? Timeheart? Beats me…”

As always we also talk about what we’ve been watching lately (I’m obsessed with The Neon Demon right now…) AND we announce what films we’ll dissect for episode #14.  Come on along: you’ll have a Van Damme good time!

Episode 2: “The Warriors” & “Sleepaway Camp” now ready for your discerning ears to tear apart!

It’s here!  Episode 2 is now online…please check it out!  Paul and I discuss his choice, “The Warriors”, and I am actually able to tell him a couple of things he didn’t know about the movie (including how Ronald Reagan LOVED this picture!).  We also discuss the seminal horror film “Sleepaway Camp”, which was SO exciting for me: horror fans know how much fun it is to find someone who has never seen this film before…TOP 10 BEST HORROR FILM ENDINGS EVER!!! (maybe even top 5!)

Please give us a listen…then give us a shout and let us know what you think!

Thanks for listening!
